'69 850 Spider
The way I found it.

Believe it or not I actually bought the car for parts on Saturday 040900, but I've since decided that it looks too cool and runs too good to throw away. Though these pictures are flattering, the car is really a rustbucket and not worth saving. At least not out here in California.

As is quickly becoming a recurring theme, that's Mere in the passenger's seat.  You can't tell, but the hood is rusting in the front-left corner.  Exactly where you'd expect it to rust...

I have always disliked the little bumper overriders, but for some reason they aren't as offensive on this car.

Note the POS exhaust system.  The drivetrain itself is nothing to write home about, but is runs very well.

The car was lowered with a combination of the PBS lowered spindles and removing the second leaf from the transverse leaf spring.  The rear simply had the springs cut.

The snugtop is a personal favorite.  This car doesn't have a ragtop, not even the frame.  The snugtops look great on 850s but are a little bit of a pain to take on and off.

You also can't see in this picture that the front wheel bearing pukes out it's grease through the wheel bearing 'cap'.  Rats.

She sure is cute, isn't she?  Like I've hinted at several times, don't let these pics fool you.  The car really is a rustbucket.  And if you don't believe it, see for yourself  Rust Areas

Well, on 082300 the car finally blew up. Rats.  For the full story and this little car's future, click here:  Diagnosis and Repair

Oct 26, 2001. The car is now dead. Killed by an SUV.
