Death by Honda

Why me? Or rather, why my cars?

My trusty and humble work-horse has unfortunately given up the ghost. On 12/30/2003 it was parked in it's usual spot on the street when a reckless kid in a lowered Honda pulled some bonehead manuever and crashed right into it. Took out the entire driver's side. My street is straight as an arrow for a mile, very wide and has a speed limit of 35 mph. The only way I can imagine this accident being possible is through a complete and forceful lapse in judgement. Don't know if the guy was getting a BJ or if he was falling asleep. Regardless, he had to cross the oncoming traffic to get to my little Brava.

Whamo! Pushed it into the curb.

The following pictures tell the rest of the story...

This damage was enough to doom the car, over $3000 to repair.  I had to fight with the insurance company to get more than the measly $1000 they offered.
